Hi! I’m Catherine, a speech-language pathologist or SLP. I started out as a school-based speech-language pathologist, and now I work with children in our outpatient clinic, through schools, and through early intervention. I specialize in language delays and disorders, especially for families who speak more than one language, including families new to the U.S. I also support children with attention and memory differences that affect how they communicate. I love working with preschool and elementary-age children, and I’m happy to start as early as 18 months and keep working with older kids and teens on the goals that matter to them. My background is in psychology, and I have special training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I use it to help families name their own values and goals. You’ll see a lot of advice about what you “should” be doing for your child. You don’t have to follow any path that doesn’t feel right for your family, and my job is to help you find the one that does. Our sessions are play-based and follow your child’s lead, with movement woven in. I start by building trust and getting to know you and your child, because kids and caregivers do their best work when they feel accepted. Wherever you and your child are on your journey, I will meet you where you are!
